As the favorites to chase down 207, SRH lost the opening over due to a tactical victory by part-time offspinner Will Jacks against left-hand hitter Travis Head. Then, veteran wristspinner Karn Sharma and rookie Swapnil Singh of the RCB inflicted further damage. As the tenth over approached, SRH was up eighty-five for six, and the outcome was all but certain.
